Our Promise

VNportal is a platform built for music lovers. Your trust is the foundation of everything we do. We commit to being transparent about what data we collect, keeping your personal information private, and never selling your data to third parties.

We collect only what we need to run the platform and improve your experience. You are always in control of your data and can request deletion at any time.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and any profile details you choose to provide (such as a display name). If you sign in via a third-party provider (Spotify, Google, Discord), we receive basic profile information from that provider per their own privacy policies.

Vinyl Collection Data

The core of VNportal is your Exhibit — the vinyl records you press and save. We store your collection data (album IDs, play counts, timestamps, cover art references) in our database to power your personal gallery and activity across sessions.

Usage & Playback Data

• Pages and features you interact with
• Search queries you run (Find Vinyl, Lyrics)
• Tracks loaded onto the DJ decks (Recreation)
• Song Studio sessions and arrangements you save

Technical Data

We automatically collect standard server log data including IP addresses, browser type, referring URLs, and timestamps. This is used solely for debugging and security purposes and is not linked to your identity.

Communications

If you submit your email on the landing page or contact us directly, we store that email to send you updates about VNportal's launch and development.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Provide the service — power your Exhibit, search results, playback, DJ sessions, and Song Studio.
• Personalize your experience — remember your collection, preferences, and session state.
• Improve VNportal — understand which features are used most to guide development priorities.
• Security — detect and prevent unauthorized access, abuse, or fraud.
• Communications — send launch updates and important notices if you've opted in.

We do not use your data for targeted advertising and we do not sell or rent your information to any third party.

3. Third-Party Services

VNportal integrates with several external services to deliver its features. Each operates under its own privacy policy.

Spotify Streaming

When you connect Spotify, we receive an OAuth access token that allows VNportal to stream music and read your playback state within the session. We do not store your Spotify credentials. Spotify's data practices are governed by the Spotify Privacy Policy.

Supabase Database & Auth

Your account, collection, and session data are stored in Supabase (hosted on AWS). Supabase complies with GDPR and SOC 2. See the Supabase Privacy Policy.

MusicBrainz & Cover Art Archive Music Data

Search queries on Find Vinyl are proxied through our server to MusicBrainz's open music database. No personal information is sent to MusicBrainz — only the search query string. See the MetaBrainz Privacy Policy.

Jamendo Music

We use the Jamendo API to access royalty-free tracks for the Song Studio and Recreation features. Queries are anonymous.

lrclib Lyrics

Synced lyrics are fetched from lrclib.net using track metadata. No personal data is transmitted.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in Supabase's managed PostgreSQL database. We apply industry-standard security practices including HTTPS encryption in transit, row-level security policies on your data, and access controls limiting who on the team can view production data.

No system is 100% secure. In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you promptly and take steps to mitigate the impact.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account and collection data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will permanently delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain it.

Landing page email submissions are retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.

6. Your Rights & Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Correction — request that inaccurate data be corrected.
• Deletion — request that your account and associated data be permanently deleted.
• Portability — request an export of your vinyl collection data in a structured format.
• Opt-out — unsubscribe from email communications at any time.

7. Children's Privacy

VNportal is not intended for individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it immediately.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as VNportal evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of VNportal after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
